For the love of postcards
I’ve done my fair share of travel this year from Las Vegas to the Dominican Republic, Halifax and most recently Newfoundland, but for some reason it’s never enough. Travel dies down a little when you buy the house, plan for kids, renovate the bathroom etc – and I really start to miss all of the exotic places. That is when I count on my fortunate friends and family to send postcards. There is something about a postcard from afar that spurs the travel bug in me and makes me feel like there is still much to see and that it’s not out of reach. Hell if so-and-so can make it there, so can I.
I am always jealous of a friend when they return from a holiday or business trip and are bragging about all that they have seen. However when I receive a post card in the mail from them it says they thought of me on said trip and for some reason it makes me feel like I was also there. So next time you travel, send a couple of postcards, they really do brighten up someone’s refrigerator door while whisking them away for a moment.
