I wonder how many people clicked on this blog entry thinking they would find the recipe for the sacred Buckley cheesecake. Not a chance. This recipe is reserved for only a few. Those who want to take it with the true heart of a Buckley woman.

My Gran (Marjorie Buckley) passed this recipe to her daughters and my mother, who then passed it to me and my sister-in-law. We’ve even included a few close friends in on the secret because they are as close as family and loved as such.

What makes Buckley cheesecake stand out? To be completely honest, it’s not that different than a London Cheesecake or a New York Style cheesecake. It actually combines elements from both. What defines Buckley cheesecake is the right of passage it represents.

Receiving the Buckley cheesecake recipe means that you have become a woman. It means that you are ready to define your womanhood in the kitchen. It means that you are ready to put love into the dishes that you serve your family. It helps to identify you as a woman, a mother, a wife, a cook.
